Had fun hanging Used Without Permission at The Flying Pony Gallery! The show features about 50 of my square foot collages and two wall size raw canvas collage paintings.
Join me Sunday October 14 at 2 pm for the reception.
The Flying Pony Gallery is 1481 Gerrard Street East, Toronto.
Congratulations to Tobi Bongard for winning the draw in the square foot giveaway!
Thank you to all the entrants who commented on my square foot artworks and for allowing me to use those comments to promote my work. Names of every entrant were written on paper and shaken inside an actual hat, old school draw style.
The winner of the draw could choose any original square foot artwork available on this site, and Tobi picked this one.
I Believe I Can Fly, 12x12", mixed media on canvas.
Tobi commented on this piece: "I adore your work, and had to respond to your contest. The 12x12 piece, I Believe I Can Fly, inspires the senses - provides hope to those grappling to maintain it, and motivates one to hold tight to one's inner tenacity, despite adversity, a place I currently find myself in. Thank you, Lorette. This particular piece, although I connect with many of your works, lifts me."
Thank you Tobi and congratulations!
Come out September 22 to the Queen West Art Crawl at Trinity Bellwoods Park. I'll be there hawking my mixed media collage paintings at Booth M22.
I'm so thankful to Derek Lee for the interview up on the Art Baazar blog. We talk about how I got started, my creative process, sources of artistic inspiration and a whole lot more! Stop by and check it out.

For the past few years, ever since the anti-gay terrorist shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orland, Florida, Toronto artist Mark Jeremy Gleberzon has partnered with Waddingtons Auction House to create a Small Art Big Hearts auction to benefit a current crisis in need.
This year's cause is Grandmothers to Grandmothers, an organization that supports and empowers African grandmothers who are caring for their grandchildren who have been orphaned by AIDS.
Various artists each donate a small work to be auctioned by Waddingtons. I have been happy to contribute in a small way each year so far, and this year donated this square foot work. Dropped it off yesterday, and the auction is September 22, 2018. I hope lots of money is raised for this great cause!
Owners of a larger piece, Carbonated Gravy, recently added a square foot artwork, Window Panes, to their collection.
Thank you so very much to Jerry Hardesty, producer of The Artist's Voice podcast. Jerry is a wonderful painter and a terrific host and I really enjoyed my time talking with him.

We talked about the square foot artworks, the journal I edit (The Ekphrastic Review), my column pairing Wine and Art at Good Food Revolution, and why I don't want to turn in the towel and become a dental hygienist or some other sensible path.
Thanks for joining us! Listen in on some of the other artist interviews, too, at this great new podcast.
